How it works
How JAOS works
Upload your résumé once. JAOS scores every role in its feed against it, tailors your résumé for the ones worth applying to, fills in the application with its browser extension, and keeps track of where each one stands.
The steps
From résumé to submitted
- 01
Upload your résumé
A PDF or a .docx file, up to 8 MB. JAOS reads your skills, your experience and the field you work in. You can keep up to five résumés.
- 02
Get a feed ranked by fit
Jobs from job boards and company career sites, each scored out of 100 against your résumé, placed in a tier, and shown with the skills you match and the ones you are missing.
- 03
Tailor, apply, track
Tailoring your résumé to a role uses one credit. The extension fills in the application, and your pipeline keeps every step after that.
Match scoring
Every job, scored out of 100
Each job gets a score out of 100 from six signals, weighted the way a recruiter reads a résumé. The score is worked out by rules, not guessed by a language model, so the same profile and the same job always get the same score. If a signal can’t be judged for a particular job, it is left out and the score is scaled over the rest.

Every job also lists the skills from the posting that your résumé shows, and the ones it doesn’t — so a low score tells you what is missing, not just that something is.
Tailoring
A résumé for this role
Pick a job and JAOS rewrites your résumé for it. One run uses one credit, whichever mode you choose, and tailoring the same job again uses another. If a run fails, its credit comes back to you.
Safe
The lightest touch. Rewords up to five bullets in each job to work in the posting’s keywords, and adds no new bullets.
Choose it when your résumé already fits and just needs to use the posting’s words.
AggressiveRecommended
Rewords up to eight bullets in each job, and adds new ones — up to three per job, twelve in all — for keywords your résumé doesn’t cover yet. You stay in the role you have.
Choose it when you fit the job but your résumé undersells it.
Transform
Still tailored against the posting, but steered toward a role you name: the headline under your name and the start of your summary point at it, and every bullet and your tech stack are rewritten toward it. Your past job titles stay as they were, and a role close to your current one gets a normal tailor instead.
Choose it when you are changing direction and need your past work read as the new role.
Every mode also
- Adds the posting’s technical skills you don’t list yet to your Skills section
- Works the posting’s keywords into your summary, and writes a short one if you have none
- Puts each job’s most relevant bullets first and drops near-duplicates
No mode changes
- Your employers, past job titles or dates
- Your education or contact details
- Your numbers — a rewritten line that loses one gets it back
You get your tailored résumé as a DOCX, and as a PDF when one is produced, with a keyword report beside it: the posting’s keywords your résumé already had, the ones that were added, and the ones still missing.
Browser extension
Fill in the application where you apply
The JAOS extension is free, for Chrome and Edge on desktop. On the application form it fills in your profile and your résumé — a tailored one included. You check what it filled and submit the application yourself.
It works best on application sites built with:
- Greenhouse
- Lever
- Workday
- iCIMS
- SmartRecruiters
- Ashby
- BambooHR
- Oracle Cloud
- Workable
- UKG
- ADP
Other sites may only be partly supported.
Tracking
Every application, one pipeline
Each application has a status — Applied, Interviewing, Offered, Rejected or Withdrawn — so you can see every one you have in flight, and what happened to the rest, in one place.
Filters
Hide what can’t work for you
- Clearance required
- Citizens only
- No visa sponsorship
- Staffing agencies
- Likely ghost jobs
Each of these filters is off until you turn it on.
Daily email
Your best matches, in your inbox
At most once a day, JAOS emails you up to five of your best-matching jobs. Unsubscribe from the link in any of those emails, or switch it off in Settings.
